One dead after semi truck crashes into second turning rig 

One man is dead after a wreck between two semi trucks in Texas on New Year’s Day. 

The accident happened at around 1:05 p.m. 10 miles east of Claude, Texas in Armstrong County. 

According to ABC 7 Amarillo, a 2021 Volvo semi truck was heading east on US 287 just behind a 2013 Peterbilt when the Peterbilt slowed down to make a right turn onto County Road 25. 

58-year-old Amil Suljic failed to slow for the Peterbilt driven by 32-year-old Jose Sanchez and struck the Peterbilt from behind. The force of the collision caused the Peterbilt ro jackknife and land partially in a roadside ditch. The Volvo came to a rest on top of the Peterbilt.  

Suljic was pronounced dead at the scene. Sanchez was not hurt in the incident. No further information has been released.
