The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is warning drivers to expect extended closures on I-70 in Golden after an oversized load bridge strike.
The bridge strike happened around 11 a.m. on December 8 on I-70 west at mile marker 260.
According to CSP’s Golden Division, “an oversized load …. impacted the bridge.”
Troopers said that “this 80k load is wedged under the bridge.”
No injuries were reported.
A Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) team is on scene checking the structural integrity of the bridge.
CSP says that westbound I-70 traffic is being diverted onto C 470.
There is no estimated time for westbound I-70 to reopen.
