Rear trailer left on bridge as rest of rig plummets off roadway

A semi truck hauling tandem trailers separated and fell off of a roadway in Connecticut on Friday morning. 

The accident happened on August 18th at around 8 a.m. on the bridge over Center Street in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. 

According to The Newtown Bee, the tractor and one of the trailers went off of the roadway and crashed onto the southern shoulder of Center Street, leaving one trailer behind on the overpass. The truck driver was not hurt in the accident and was seen walking around and speaking with police officers. 

First responders worked to contain a diesel spill caused by the wreck and traffic was detoured around the crash scene. No further information has been released.
