Rural bridge collapses after big rig drives over, police say

Canadian police are investigating after a truck driver used a bridge in a rural area and caused it to collapse into a river.

The incident occurred at 7 a.m. on June 13 near Tatamagouche in Nova Scotia.

Authorities say that a tractor trailer crossed bridge on Lake Road, causing it to collapse and fall into the French River below.

The truck driver was not injured and was able to call police.

A photo shared by RCMP shows an overturned twisted truck resting next to the collapsed bridge structure.

The Department of Public Works will be investigating the cause of the bridge collapse.

Police say that the the road is closed indefinitely.
