Second truck driver arrested in I-49 big rig battle captured in viral video

Published:

Authorities in Louisiana have arrested a second truck driver who was allegedly involved in an interstate road rage battle caught on video late last month.

On April 3, the Desoto Parish Sheriff’s Office (DPSO) announced that 30 year old Grand Prairie, Texas-based truck driver Trebor Hendrix turned himself in to authorities Monday morning.

DPSO said that Hendrix was contacted by police shortly after the road rage incident occurred on I-49 and agreed to return to Louisiana.

DPSO said that Hendrix was booked into the DeSoto Detention Center and charged with Reckless Operation with No Accident, and Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway (Felony).

On March 29, 44 year old truck driver Omar Berrios Martinez was arrested and was also charged with Reckless Operation with No Accident, and Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway (Felony) in connection with the same incident.

The road rage incident was captured on video on I-49 near Shreveport, Louisiana, on Tuesday, March 28.

In the now-viral video, you can see that Martinez and Hendrix are swerving at one another and appear to try to force each other off of the road. After a third semi truck arrives at the scene and blocks traffic in the left lane, one of the truck drivers involved veers off the road and drives in the grassy median to try to get away from the scene.

The DPSO told KSLA, “Obviously, people make gestures at each other, and there’s often words exchanged or things like that. Rarely, at least in this area, do you see vehicles try to strike each other and literally run each other off the road, much less folks driving commercial vehicles that decided that was appropriate at that time.”
