Security video captures the moment of tanker truck crash on I-95 in Philadelphia

Published:

Security cameras at a nearby business captured the moment that a tanker truck crashed on Sunday morning, resulting in the collapse of the I-95 overpass in Philadelphia.

The crash occurred at 6:20 a.m. on Sunday as a tanker truck loaded with 8,500 gallons of gasoline crashed while using an I-95 ramp and caught fire, causing severe structural damage to I-95.

Tanker driver Nathaniel Moody passed away in the crash. No other injuries have been reported.

Authorities believe that Moody lost control of the vehicle while taking the off-ramp, causing the truck to overturn and rupturing the tank.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has issued a disaster declaration to speed up repairs, but it is expected that it will be months before I-95 fully reopens.

Video captured by cameras at Baldor Specialty Foods show the moment of the crash and vehicle fire. You can view the video below.
