Semi driver failed to slow in construction zone, resulting in 10 vehicle pileup, Idaho troopers say

Published:

Idaho State Police (ISP) responded to a ten vehicle pileup in a construction zone on I-84 west of Mountain Home on Sunday afternoon.

The crash was reported at 2:12 p.m. on October 1 at mile marker 78 on I-84 Elmore County, Idaho.

ISP says that a 36 year old Washington resident was operating a 2015 Volvo westbound on I-84 when he “failed to stop in time for slowed traffic approaching a construction zone.”

The semi truck struck nine other vehicles, including a 2022 Freightliner semi-tractor pulling a commercial trailer driven by a 74 year old male from Boise.

The 2022 Freightliner driver and a woman in a Kia were both transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

ISP says traffic was backed up for about 4 and a half hours as crews responded to the crash.

This crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police
