Authorities say that the truck driver parked along a feeder road and was loading a piece of heavy equipment when a northbound passenger vehicle driver drove onto the truck’s trailer, then drove back off, striking the truck driver as he stood next to the vehicle.
ABC13 reports that the truck driver was decapitated.
The car driver was hospitalized following the crash, but the person’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Police are investigating whether speed, distracted driving, or driving under the influence were factors in the fatal crash.
