Semi truck-involved collision sparks huge building fire, closes Kansas highway

Officials say that a massive structure fire was caused by a two vehicle crash involving a semi truck near Newton, Kansas, on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash was reported by Newton Fire/EMS around 2 p.m. on October 11 after a passenger car and a semi truck were involved in a collision at U.S. 50 and Anderson.

Harvey County Now reports that a mini van crashed into a semi truck, which in turn caused the semi truck to collide with an RV storage facility near the highway. The building caught fire following the crash.

Firefighters say that injuries were reported.

U.S. 50 and SW 14th Street are closed to traffic.
