Semi truck stuck on shoulder during attempted u-turn ends in death of two

Published:

Two people are dead after a semi truck attempted a u-turn and ended up blocking the roadway.

The accident happened just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17th in Mont Belvieu, Texas.

According to Click 2 Houston News, the lowboy tractor trailer was heading northbound on Eagle Drive when the driver decided to attempt a u-turn through the grassy shoulder. The truck then got stuck, leaving the flatbed trailer blocking both lanes of the roadway.

A southbound Dodge Nitro soon collided with the flatbed trailer as it sat blocking the roadway, killing the 40-year-old driver and her 13-year-old daughter. A two-year-old girl was also in the car at the time of the wreck but appeared to be unhurt. She was flown to a hospital in Houston as a precaution. The truck driver was not hurt.

The incident is still under investigation. It is not clear what citations, if any, have been issued.
