Shoplifter hops onto back of semi truck while evading police

A shoplifter hopped onto the back of a semi truck while fleeing police in Illinois earlier this week.

The incident happened on Wednesday, September 13th in Oak Brook, Illinois at the Neiman Marcus in Oak Brook Mall.

According to Fox 32 Chicago, 25-year-old Myles Dabney entered the store at about 3:30 p.m. with a backpack and entered a fitting room with an armful of clothing. Dabney then stashed nine items of clothing in his bag, hoodie, and shirt, and left the store without purchasing anything.

Oak Brook police officers tried to stop the man, but he fled on foot, weaving through traffic on Route 83. Dabney then jumped onto the back of a semi truck in an attempt to evade police, but was eventually pulled off the truck by officers and taken into custody.

At the time of his arrest, Dabney was out on $5,000 bond after being arrested earlier this summer for similar retail theft charges. Dabney appeared in court on Thursday, September 14th and is facing new retail theft charges for the $456 worth of merchandise he stole in the most recent incident. His bond has been set at $50,000. He will appear in court again on October 2nd.
