A major pileup collision occurred in Durham, North Carolina, on Tuesday evening.
The crash was reported during the early evening rush hour on August 15 on westbound I-40 near Exit 275 in Durham.
Authorities say that 32 vehicles were involved in a chain reaction crash on the interstate amid severe storms.

“There were some cars that were completely underneath tractor trailers … surprised people weren’t more injured,” motorist Pat Shine told ABC 11.
It isn’t clear how many people were injured.
The crash shut down westbound I-40 between Exits 274 and 276 for hours. All lanes reopened shortly after 8 p.m.
