Video released by the Encinal Police Department (EPD) shows a truck driver discovering and chasing off a man who attempted to hide on his truck.
The video was captured at a Loves Truck Stop in Encinal, Texas, around 11 p.m. on September 1, 2023.
EPD says that officers were called to the scene for a report of two males fighting at the truck stop.
Investigating officers learned that one of the males, Mexican citizen Rafael Cabrera Vargas, was “found behind the cab of the semi attempting to conceal himself.”
The semi truck driver noticed Vargas while he was fueling and attempted to stop Vargas, which led to a physical altercation.
EPD says that Border Patrol arrived on the scene shortly after the video was captured. Vargas was taken into custody by Border Patrol agents.
Police said that Vargas “has a long history of entering into the United States illegally.”
“This is a reminder to all to remain vigilant and completely aware of your surroundings. And please, if you see anything suspicious do not hesitate to report it,” EPD said.
