Teen arrested for doing 91 while hauling improperly secured skid steer with no license

A sheriff’s deputy in Wisconsin nabbed a commercial vehicle driver for excessive speed and a variety of commercial vehicle violations this week.

The driver was spotted around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, near Liberty Township, Wisconsin.

A Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) deputy spotted a commercial vehicle hauling a skid steer on a tandem axle trailer traveling at speeds of 91 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h. zone on Highway 61, according to NBC 15.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop.

The deputy discovered that the driver of the commercial vehicle was an 18 year old with no CDL or any other type of drivers license.

The deputy noted that there was only one chain securing the skid steer to the trailer and that the trailer’s lighting system was malfunctioning.

After properly securing the skid steer to the trailer, the commercial vehicle was seized by GCSO.

The driver was arrested for the speed violation and for driving a commercial vehicle without a CDL.

Police say that the company that owns the vehicle, Area Wide Concrete and Excavating, was additionally cited for failing to display registration, operating without stopping lights, and improper directional lighting.

The case is under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
