Three dead after motorist slams into back of rig stopped by construction flagger

A woman and two children are dead after their car collided with a stopped tractor trailer in a construction zone.

The accident happened between Pratt and Haviland, Kansas at 10:35 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8th on US Highway 54.

According to The Wichita Eagle, a tractor trailer was stopped in a construction zone waiting for a flagger to let him pass when a woman in a Nissan rear-ended the rig. The force of the impact killed the woman and her two children inside of the Nissan SUV.

The crash forced the closure of Highway 54 between mile marker 136 and the west edge of Pratt. Preliminary investigations show that the motorist did not attempt to slow down prior to the crash, reported KWCH 12.
