Three dead in crash involving two big rigs in New Mexico

Authorities in New Mexico say that three people lost their lives on Thursday morning in a crash involving semi trucks that occurred near Hatch.

The crash was reported on SR 26 (Hatch Highway) between Hatch and Deming, New Mexico.

Early reports from news outlets indicate that two semi trucks were involved in a head-on collision.

Three people are reported dead.

It isn’t clear how many people are hurt.

Images captured at the scene show a large number of boxes spilled out on the roadway.

“State Road 26 closed in both directions southwest of Hatch for a fatal crash. Drivers encouraged not to exit on SR 26. Drivers should stay on I-25 south to get to I-10. Expect delays, avoid SR 26,” New Mexico State Police said.

The crash is still under investigation. This is a developing story.
