Three hurt after turning car sends semi truck crashing into building

Three people were hurt in a wreck between a semi truck and a car turning into an apartment complex on Monday. 

The accident happened on August 7th on Genesee Street in Cheektowaga, New York. 

According to 2 WGRZ, a car was heading west on Genesee Street when it attempted to turn into an apartment complex without yielding to oncoming traffic. An eastbound semi truck then struck the car, veered off the road, and crashed into the Monroe Tractor building. 

Both the motorist and the truck driver were taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. An 11-year-old passenger in the semi truck was also transported to a hospital for minor injuries.

Genesee Street was closed between Transit Road and Airborne Parkway until just after 10:30 p.m. Monday. 

The motorist has been issued a summons for failure to yield and unsafe lane change.
