TikTok trucker sounds the alarm on alleged tow scam targeting big rigs in North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia

Published:

A trucker popular on social media recently shared a video to warn the trucking community about an alleged truck towing scam taking place on the east coast.

The video was shared over the weekend by TikTok trucker Clarissa Rankin.

In the video, Rankin warns of a “stolen” truck scheme she fell prey to in North Carolina that she believes is also taking place in Virginia and Georgia.

Rankin says that a tow company is preying on truck drivers by watching for trucks that are left at truck stops and towing them overnight, then asking for thousands of dollars to release the truck and/or trailer from the drop lot.

Rankin says that the she has filed a complaint with the North Carolina Attorney General about the tow scam.

The video ends with Rankin sharing an image of the sign that she says truckers need to look out for.
