Tires go flying in wild dump truck vs. pickup crash caught on traffic cam

Published:

Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) traffic cameras captured a dump truck vs. pickup crash that occurred in an intersection in East Bethel.

The crash occurred October 25 at the intersection of Highway 65 and Viking Boulevard in East Bethel.

In the video, you can see a black pickup loaded with tires entering the intersection. At the same time, a dump truck also enters the intersection without slowing and strikes the pickup, pushing the vehicle dozens of feet and sending the pickup’s load of tires flying.

Two people were hurt, but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Since the video was published, many viewers have speculated that the dump truck driver ran a red light or lost control of their brakes. Others suggest that the design of the intersection is flawed and led to the crash.
