Traffic stop in Michigan leads to arrest of trucker wanted on murder charge out of Georgia

Published:

A truck driver is facing multiple serious charges following a traffic stop in Eaton County, Michigan, on Tuesday.

The incident began around 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, in Delta Township, Michigan.

A Michigan State Patrol (MSP) Motor Carrier Officer pulled a commercial vehicle over for a violation.

According to MSP, “a check of the driver also out of Georgia found that he had a warrant for his arrest out of Georgia for murder.”

The driver was taken into police custody without incident.

A search of the semi truck uncovered a stolen handgun with a 17 round magazine, and 31 round magazine. Troopers also found police grade pepper spray, which is not legal to possess in Michigan.

MSP says that the truck driver was booked into Eaton County Jail on charges of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Stolen Property, and Possession of Dangerous Weapon-CS Gas.

The truck driver is awaiting extradition to Georgia on the murder warrant.
