Truck driver admits to being distracted in work zone prior to losing load

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) says a hard braking incident that resulted in a lost load was caused by a truck driver’s cell phone use.

On February 8, Georgia DPS shared the story of the distracted driving incident that took place earlier in the week in McDuffie County.

“This week, MCO3 Rodriguez and MCO1 Holderfield (Region E) worked a post-crash inspection in McDuffie County. The driver admitted being distracted by his cell phone coming into a work zone, slamming on his brakes, and losing his load. Luckily, the construction road flagger could jump out of the way without being hit by the truck or load,” Georgia DPS said.
