Truck driver arrested for firing shotgun at another trucker on Virginia highway

Published:

A Texas-based truck driver was arrested in Virginia last week for an alleged road rage incident involving a shotgun.

The incident occurred on Thursday, March 30, 2023, in Caroline County, Virginia.

The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, VA (CCSO), received a 911 call regarding an apparent altercation between two semi truck drivers traveling on Ruther Glen Road.

The caller told police that “one tractor-trailer driver was firing a shotgun out of his window.”

“Deputies believe both drivers engaged in an altercation over driving behavior on Interstate 95, which resulted in shots being fired on Ruther Glen Road,” CCSO said.

Deputies responded to the scene and found one tractor trailer stopped on Signboard Road, near Concord Road. Police say this driver was unarmed.

Officers then located the second semi truck near the intersection of Concord Road and Richmond Turnpike.

CCSO reports finding a loaded shotgun in the possession of the second truck driver, who was later identified as 27 year old Daniel Skobic, of San Angelo, Texas.

Skobic was booked into the Pamunkey Regional Jail without bond.

CCSO says he faces a charge of Reckless Handling of A Firearm.
