Truck driver hauling double-trailers dead after smashing into rig stopped in traffic

A truck driver is dead after crashing into the back of another tractor trailer stopped in traffic from a previous wreck. 

The accident happened on Wednesday, February 15th in Jackson County, Florida. 

According to WJHG 7 News, a red Volvo tractor trailer was stopped in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 due to traffic from a previous wreck when a UPS truck hauling double trailers came up from behind and crashed into the back of it. 

The UPS driver died in the wreck. The Volvo driver was injured, but the extent of their injuries is unclear. 

A portion of I-10 eastbound at mile marker 136 was completely shut down as crews worked to investigate the incident and clear the wreckage. 

A traffic homicide investigation is currently ongoing.
