A truck driver lost his life on Tuesday morning in an apparent unloading accident at a lumber store.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on February 28 at the Gilford Home Center located in Gilford, New Hampshire.
Gilford Police say that lumber “had fallen off a truck” and landed on the truck driver, resulting in major injuries.
When first responders arrived at the scene, the truck driver was unconscious but still breathing. However, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Police say that the fatal incident is not considered to be suspicious and is being investigated as a workplace accident.
Gilford Police Lt. Adam Vansteensburg told the New Hampshire Union Leader that the incident was “just an absolutely tragic accident.”
The identity of the truck driver is being withheld pending notification of family. He is described as a New Hampshire resident in his 60s.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will investigate the incident.
