Truck driver opinions wanted on legalized marijuana and the trucking industry

On Monday, the non-profit research group American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) launched a survey for truck drivers to gain insight on how legalized marijuana is impacting the trucking industry.

The ATRI online survey launched on April 3 seeking a driver perspective on state laws legalizing marijuana use and how these laws impact highway safety and the trucking industry at large.

The survey was initially deployed in person at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Kentucky, where it received more than 300 driver responses.

The ATRI says that “this topic was identified as critical because of the conflict and uncertainty between new state laws legalizing marijuana and long-standing federal law, especially for those that are part of a federally-regulated workforce.”

The ATRI is accepting survey responses through April 28, 2023.
