Truck driver reported dead after careening off ramp onto I-287, striking van

Published:

New York State Police (NYSP) are investigating a fatal crash involving a semi truck and a passenger vehicle that occurred on Wednesday morning.

Troopers say that the crash occurred at 10:20 a.m. on January 18, on I-287 (Cross Westchester Expressway) in the town of Harrison, New York.

“A preliminary investigation determined that a tractor-trailer was on the Exit 9A ramp from I-287 to I-684 north when the driver lost control and flipped over the guiderail and onto the I-287 westbound lanes,” NYSP said in a news release.

CBS New York reports that the falling truck struck a van.

NYSP confirmed that the truck driver is deceased.

One other person was hospitalized with injuries.

All westbound lanes of I-287 are closed at Exit 9, and the left lane is closed eastbound. Traffic diversions are in place, according to NYSP.

This is a developing story.
