Truck driver reportedly parked on tracks, was in sleeper, when train strike occurred

A truck driver was charged following a train vs. truck crash in Tennessee over the weekend, according to reports.

The crash occurred at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, near Harriman, Tennessee when a Norfolk Southern train struck the trailer of a semi truck.

According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) accident report obtained by local outlet WVLT, 41 year old Pennsylvania-based truck driver Jagit Singh parked blocking the tracks at 1670 Harriman Highway and was in the sleeper berth when the collision occurred.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Singh was charged with parking on the railroad tracks, according to the report.

THP says the truck was hauling jarred salsa.

The incident remains under investigation.
