Trucker arrested for manslaughter after jackknife caused chain reaction crash

A truck driver has been arrested for manslaughter after a crash involving his tractor trailer led to the death of two motorists. 

The accident happened in Harlingten, Texas on Friday, January 20th at 2:20 p.m. 25-year-old driver Juan Jose Bazaldua-Sanchez was arrested on Monday, January 23rd on two counts of manslaughter. 

According to Valley Central News, Bazaldua-Sanchez lost control of his rig while heading east along the 25000 block of FM 106, causing his tractor trailer to jackknife across the roadway. 

Three cars then crashed into the truck as it blocked the roadway. Two people were killed in the crashes – 28-year-old Angela Galicia and 65-year-old Jesus Trevino. Three other people were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries sustained in the crashes. Their conditions are not known. 

The family of Galicia has since organized a fundraiser on GoFundMe to raise money for funeral arrangements. 

Bazaldua-Sanchez was identified as the driver of the semi truck on Monday, and was transported to the Harlingen city jail. He is being held on $68,000 bond.
