Police have provided information on a fatal accident that occurred at a Kentucky truck stop on Tuesday morning.
On December 19, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a Pilot truck stop located in Mortons Gap, Kentucky, for a pedestrian vs. vehicle accident.
According to local outlet WEHT, Illinois-based truck driver Andy Mena, 45, told police that at 4 a.m., he was sleeping when another driver knocked on his door and asked him to pull up so they could connect their trailer parked next to hm.
Mena told police that he pulled forward and waited for about fifteen minutes.
Mena said that he checked his mirrors and didn’t see anybody, so he reversed back into the parking spot.
Around 7 a.m. as he was leaving the truck stop, Mena said that he saw a man pinned in between the two trailers.
The truck driver, Hershel Cobb, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kentucky State Police assisted in the investigation.
