Trucker flung off of interstate in wreck with armed robber fleeing police

A truck driver is dead after a wreck with an armed robbery suspect during a police chase.

The accident happened just after 5:30 a.m. in Lakewood, Washington on June 29th near Berkely Street Southwest and Thorne Lane.

According to Fox 13, Lakewood police were engaged in a car chase with the armed robbery suspect after a robbery in Tacoma when the suspect crashed into the semi truck on an Interstate 5 on ramp. The force of the collision caused the truck to jackknife and the trucker was thrown from the rig and onto Interstate 5 below.

The trucker was then transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Two “juvenile” suspects were taken into custody at the conclusion of the chase. The vehicle they were fleeing in was stolen, and was traced back to the scene of an earlier robbery. No further information about the crime and subsequent crash has been released.
