Trucker injured by dump truck debris that smacked into his rig after being knocked free by a low bridge in Pennsylvania.
The accident happened on December 20th on Interstate 83 at exit 16A and 16B in York County, Pennsylvania at 1:54 p.m.
According to Fox 43, a dump truck was hauling large pieces of scrap metal along I-83 southbound when it passed beneath the Queen Street Bridge. The load ended up being too tall to safely pass beneath the bridge, and a portion of the load was knocked off. The metal scraps then crashed into a semi truck traveling behind the dump truck.
The truck driver was hurt in the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The semi truck sustained damage in the incident, including a hole in its fuel tank. The bridge sustained “negligible” damage in the incident. However, the bridge is still being repaired after damage from previous wrecks. The repairs are expected to be completed by February 2024.
