Trucker killed on side of road after two fellow drivers fumble a pass attempt

Published:

Trucker killed on side of road by two other big rigs apparently trying to pass each other on Interstate 95 in Florida on Sunday.

The accident happened on October 29th in St. Lucie County, Florida at 11:24 p.m. on I-95 at Orange Avenue AKA County Road 68.

According to WPTV News, a trucker pulled his 2022 Peterbilt 579 onto the right shoulder of the interstate and was standing on the left side of it when two other tractor trailers approached the scene. A southbound 2019 Kenworth T680 driven by a 41-year-old was in the center lane, while a 2020 Volvo VNL driven by a 24-year-old was in the right lane.

The Kenworth began moving into the right lane just as the Volvo was attempting to pass it on the right. As a result, the Volvo’s right side mirror collided with the parked Peterbilt’s mirror, and the Volvo’s trailer struck the driver standing on the side of the road.

The driver on the side of the road was killed in the incident. None of the driver’s identities have been disclosed. No other information has been released.
