Trucker shot by co-driver during in-cab domestic dispute, Indiana sheriff says

Published:

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) responded to an in-cab shooting involving a couple early Wednesday morning on an Indiana interstate.

TCSO responded to a domestic disturbance call shortly after 1 a.m. on May 3 on I-65 at mile marker 167.

When they arrived on scene, they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Deputies learned that a domestic dispute broke out between boyfriend and girlfriend co-drivers as the woman was behind the wheel of the truck.

WTHR reports that the boyfriend allegedly struck the girlfriend in the head while she was driving.

The girlfriend pulled over and was reportedly thrown into the sleeper area by the boyfriend.

Police say the boyfriend drove the truck a short distance further, pulled over again, and charged at the female driver still in the sleeper berth.

Investigators believe that the woman shot the boyfriend as he charged at her.

The man was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Police are still investigating.
