Trucker standing outside rig “ran for his life” to avoid truck sliding during ‘historic’ Utah storm

Published:

A truck driver had to ‘run for his life’ to avoid being hit by another driver during a serious winter storm in Utah on Wednesday.

The incident happened on February 22nd during the snowstorm that began on Tuesday. The accident happened on Interstate 15 in Juab County.

According to UHP Lt. Scott Robertson, a truck driver was outside of his truck for unknown reason when an oncoming driver began losing control. The trucker then “ran for his life” to avoid being hit while the other driver took “evasive action” to avoid hitting the man.

The trucker who took evasive action then crashed into a nearby box truck. The collision caused the box truck to “spin and roll over” and caused the trailer on the semi to break “in half.”

2 KUTV reported that one driver involved in the wreck was “banged up,” but no further information on injuries has been reported. It is unclear why the first driver was out of his truck.
