Trucker ticketed for load shift that caused a pile up crash involving five vehicles in Connecticut on Wednesday night.
The accident happened on December 27th at about 5 p.m. on Interstate 84 near exit 17 in Middlebury.
According to The Trumbull Times, the load shift occurred when the truck driver attempted to slow for traffic. As he hit the brakes, his load of metal pipes shifted and struck the cab of the truck. The rig then jackknifed and blocked all lanes of traffic.
The rig then struck a car and pushed it into another vehicle. Two more cars then crashed into the semi truck.
Following the wreck, two people were hospitalized as a precaution, reported Patch News.
The truck driver was cited for operating with an unsecured load and failure to leave a reasonable distance between vehicles.
