Trucker wounded, suspects at large, following shooting on I-5 at Grapevine

A truck driver was injured on Monday night during a shooting that is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. on March 27 on northbound I-5, north of Grapevine Road.

CHP received reports of a man and a women walking on the freeway brandishing a firearm.

CBS News reports that the pair stopped a semi truck, which led to an altercation. The truck driver was shot during the altercation.

The man and woman fled the scene on foot and remain at large as of Tuesday morning.

The truck driver was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.

The suspects are described as a white male wearing all black and a white unarmed Hispanic female also wearing all black.

Northbound I-5 was shut down for hours overnight as CHP investigated the incident, resulting in heavy traffic backups.

Northbound I-5 reopened on Tuesday morning.
