Two truck drivers dead after propane hauler crosses median and hits gas hauler head-on

Published:

Michigan State Police (MSP) confirmed that two truck drivers were killed on Monday afternoon in a collision involving a liquid propane (LP) hauler and a gasoline hauler.

The crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on January 9 on US 12 near Portage Road in Bertrand Township, Michigan.

According to MSP, “the driver of a LP hauler was traveling eastbound on US 12 Highway when the driver crossed the median and struck a gasoline hauler head on.”

Trooper said that the truck driver hauling propane, Michigan resident Christopher Deneen, 35, died at the scene.

The gasoline hauler, 46 year old Indiana resident Dustin Marshall, was taken to a local hospital but later passed away from injuries.

Troopers said that some propane leaked but was quickly contained. No gasoline was spilled.

“As of now, we do not know what caused the LP hauler to cross the median,” MSP said.

MSP said that it isn’t yet clear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
