Two truckers die in head-on crash that caused ‘semi explosion’

Two truck drivers lost their lives on Monday night in a head-on crash in Boone County, Indiana.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), the crash occurred around 8:10 p.m. on October 30 at County Road 700 W and SR 32, west of Lebanon, Indiana.

The crash resulted in what police called a “semi explosion.”

When BCSO arrived on scene they discovered two semi trucks that had been involved in a head-on collision that were up in flames.

Fire fighters responded to the scene and extinguished the truck fires.

When the fires were out, officers were able to determine that truck drivers Ranjeet Benipal, 30, from California, and Kevin Barrientos, 31, of Indiana, were both deceased.

BCSO’s Fatal Alcohol Crash Team responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
