UPDATE: Motorist charged with intoxicated manslaughter for death of trucker

Published:

A woman has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter for a collision that decapitated a trucker in Texas last month.

Gina Wilhoit struck trucker Hector Martinez as he was loading equipment onto his trailer off of Interstate 45 near FM 1960 in Houston, Texas back on April 20th. ABC 13 reports that Martinez was parked in the northbound right lane of the feeder road with his hazard lights on as he loaded a boom lift onto the trailer.

As Martinez was securing the boom lift, a car driven by Wilhoit drove up onto the trailer and struck Martinez. The car landed with the back end on top of Martinez, decapitating him.

Following the wreck, Wilhoit was taken to the hospital and evaluated, where it was determined that she was under the influence. She eventually admitted to “smoking a pipe with chemicals and marijuana prior to driving.”

Wilhoit has since been charged with intoxicated manslaughter. She went before a judge on Wednesday, May 24th. No further information has been released.
