Van smashes into gas station while avoiding overturned rig

A van crashed into the side of a gas station while avoiding a truck overturned in the roadway in Massachusetts on Monday morning.

The accidents happened on February 21st in Stoughton at the intersection of Sharon Street and Bay Road.

According to Boston 25 News, the tractor trailer lost control while traveling through the intersection and overturned, blocking the roadway. The van then lost control while trying to avoid a collision with the overturned rig and crashed into the side of a Mobil gas station as a result.

The driver of the van was hospitalized as a result of the crash but is in stable condition. The truck driver was able to walk away from the crash. No one inside of the gas station was injured.

Several utility lines were knocked down in the wreck, causing power outages to businesses nearby. It is not clear why the tractor trailer initially lost control. No further information has been released.
