A video report follows a truck driver as she shares her experiences with the highs and then lows of trying to make a living in trucking in the years after the pandemic.
The video segment recently appeared on NBC Nightly News.
The report follows single mother of three Arnesha Barron, who was an owner-operator during the surge of the early days of the COVID-19 crisis. As rates recently tumbled, she was forced to get rid of her truck and has now entered a lease program with Western Flyer Xpress.
“Once it wasn’t such a high demand anymore, it was back the drawing board. We had to pick loads off the board and the rates were terrible,” Barron said.
Barron says that despite the challenges she’s experience, she won’t quit trucking.
