WATCH: Police officer drags unresponsive trucker from burning rig

Footage of a police officer in North Carolina rescuing an unconscious truck driver from a wrecked truck has been released to the public this week.

The  Salisbury Police Department says that Lt. Corey Brooks was responding to a different incident just before 9 p.m. on August 8th when he saw a tractor trailer strike a barrier wall on Interstate 85 and catch fire.

The SPD says that Brooks acted “without hesitation”  and ran over to the wrecked truck to help the truck driver. He called for help and got into the cab of the truck, where he saw the truck driver in the driver’s seat unresponsive. Brooks began to pull the driver from the seat and, with the help of another, unidentified person, they were able to get the trucker out of the cab, across two lanes of traffic, and away from the burning truck.

The truck driver reportedly regained consciousness as his truck went up in flames. He was able to walk to an ambulance on his own and was taken to a hospital, reported WGN News
