Woman fatally struck by big rig in chicken plant parking lot

Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are investigating after a woman on foot was struck by a semi truck in a lot at a major chicken processing plant.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Friday, February 17 at the Bell and Evans plant located in Bethel Township, Pennsylvania.

“It was determined the victim was struck and run over by a truck tractor in the east trailer parking area. The victim ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Lebanon County Coroner’s Office,” PSP said.

The victim was later identified as 64 year old Oklahoma resident Modrel Songer.

According to reports, both Songer and the truck driver involved in the fatal accident were third-party workers and were not employed by Bell and Evans.

OSHA is assisting PSP in the investigation.
