Wrecked semi truck causes nine hour backup, serious injury 

Traffic on Interstate 5 in Washington was backed up for nine hours after a serious wreck involving a semi truck and a car. 

The accident happened on July 19th in Pierce County, Washington in the DuPont area at 5:19 a.m.

According to KOMO News, police described the accident as a “semi vs. car serious injury collision,” that caused a semi truck to jackknife. The accident blocked two lanes. 

I-5 at Mounts/Old Nisqually roads was reduced to one lane until 10:55 a.m., and was completely reopened at 1:58 p.m.

Backups in the area extended more than 10 miles into Olympia. No information on the cause of the crash has been released.

The motorist involved in the collision was transported to a hospital in critical condition. The truck driver was also taken to a hospital, but the extent of their injuries is not clear.
