Wrong way motorist killed in crash with semi truck near Utah/Nevada border

Published:

A passenger vehicle driver was killed in a wrong way crash in Tooele County, Utah, over the weekend.

Around 3 a.m. on February 18, the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) responded to a crash about 15 miles from the Utah/Nevada border.

UHP says that a passenger vehicle was traveling east in the westbound lanes of I-80 when it collided head-on with a westbound semi truck.

The passenger vehicle driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi truck driver suffered minor injuries.

A second passenger vehicle was damaged by debris in the roadway, but no other injuries were reported.

UHP suspects that the wrong-way driver was impaired at the time of the crash.
