WYDOT says truck driver got stuck after driving on closed road

Published:

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) says that a truck driver ran into trouble after driving around a road closure gate and proceeding down a road that was shut down for the season.

WYDOT says that the incident occurred last week on US 14A near Burgess Junction.

Local outlet Sheridan Media reports that the truck driver was westbound on US 14A when they went around a road closure barrier and drove on the closed roadway until reaching the Crystal Creek rest area, where they tried to turn around and got stuck.

“It doesn’t pay to drive on closed roads; in fact, it makes a mess,” WYDOT said in a social media post.

US 14A closes each year due to heavy snow.

“Seasonal closures like US 14A don’t typically reopen until closer to the Memorial Day holiday. Know before you go – check road conditions, including closure information, on our 511 tools: www.wyoroad.info or the Wyoming 511 app,” WYDOT said.
