18 motorists, truckers ticketed for filming rollover crash scene while driving

Police in Ontario issued multiple tickets for filming the scene of a crash over the holiday weekend. 

The tickets were issued on Saturday, Spetember 2nd near Napanee on Highway 401. 

According to CTV News, 18 drivers, including two truckers, were ticketed for driving past a semi truck rollover crash while using their phones. 

“Eighteen drivers received a $615 reminder, including two transport truck drivers, to stay off their phones and focus on the road,” the Ontario Provincial Police wrote on X.” Your attentiveness to driving helps keep emergency workers safe at these scenes. All 18 drivers were suspected of videoing the crash site while operating their vehicles.”

That evening, another driver was ticketed for distracted driving “after they were observed using their cellphone to take video of a collision scene” on Hwy. 417 at Bronson Avenue.

 “It was quite the sight,” the OPP wrote.
