U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently seized thousands of pounds of illegal drugs from a truckload of produce at a Texas border crossing.
On November 10, a tractor trailer making entry from Mexico entered the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility located in Pharr, Texas.
The tractor trailer was referred for a secondary inspection using non-intrusive imaging technology.
Officers physically inspected the vehicle and extracted 1,859 packages of alleged methamphetamine weighing 2,155.02 pounds concealed within the shipment of serrano peppers.
The estimated street value of the seized methamphetamine is $31,169,000.
CBP seized the drugs and the truck.
Homeland Security Investigations is investigating this incident.
“Our CBP officers continue to remain vigilant and intercepted this massive methamphetamine load, preventing it from reaching American streets,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.
