Big rig tire blowout kills 3, injures 3 more

A semi truck blew a tire in Arizona over the weekend, leading to a crash that killed three and injured three more. 

The accident happened in San Simon, Arizona on Interstate 10 at around 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 14th. 

According to KGUN 9, the semi truck was heading east on I-10 near milepost 391 when a truck driver suffered a driver’s side tire failure. The truck then lost control, veered over the median, and collided with a westbound SUV with five people inside. 

The force of th impact threw three people from the SUV, killing them at the scene. Two more people inside of the SUV had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital due to the severity of their injuries. The trucker also had to be transported to a hospital by helicopter. 

No further information on the accident has been released.
