Box truck driver drove away without paying for almost $2k in repairs

Published:

A box truck driver is facing charges after he drove away without paying for almost $2,000 in repairs at a TA in Connecticut over the summer.

The incident happened at the TA in Willington, Connecticut at 9:32 p.m. on July 31st. The unnamed driver was extradited from New Hampshire on March 31st and is facing a fourth-degree larceny charge.

According to Patch News, the driver requested an estimate for repairs at the TA mechanic shop and approved the quote before the mechanics got to work. The workers were then finalizing the bill after completing the repairs when the driver walked out of the shop, got into his truck, and drove away.

Other truck stop employees then tried to block the exit gates with company vehicles, but the driver sped through the exit before they could get there.

The driver walked out on a $1,836.69 bill, the warrant states. The driver was eventually tracked down in New Hampshire. His identity has not been released.
